Riprap is large, angular rock — typically 4 to 18 inches across — placed to protect shorelines, stream banks, drainage channels, and slopes from erosion. It works by absorbing and deflecting the energy of flowing water.

Common applications include lining drainage ditches, protecting culvert outlets, stabilizing pond banks, and armoring road shoulders. Riprap is often required by NCDOT and local ordinances for certain drainage structures.

  • Bank stabilization

How much will I need?
